The 10th Armored Division was activated 68 years ago today, July 15, 1942, at Fort Benning, GA. The division's second anniversary in 1944 was marred by the loss of General Newgarden in a plane crash, while the third anniversary was celebrated with a circus and other activities at the Olympic stadium in Garmisch.
Happy Anniversary to all the Tigers of the 10th!!

Does anyone know Wayne Gorham or Millard Martin who served in the 10th Armored Division? I know that they were both in Garmisch in May, 1945 and am trying to determine their battalion and company. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Howard

My Father in law served with the 10th and he is still with us. I'm trying to put together some of his history all I really know is that he was a gunner on a half track and that he recieved the bronze star and purple heart. Anyone out there know or maybe heard of Julius Korchman.

Good work on the website. Thanks for your dedication to the 10th AD. My father, Ken Cogswell was with the 3rd Tank, B Company. His life in the military was seldom spoke of for 50 years. Then one day on a field trip to see a few Model "A"'s the stories came one after another. The one I enjoyed the most was second hand. When George Patton was in the 3 Cavalry he walked behind a horse and slapped it on the behind. After he was kicked he picked himself up and said, "I guess I had that coming!" For the life of me I can't remember the name of the horse! I can come close but no cigar. Does anyone recall the horse's name?
Thanks,
Tom
